Château Montsymond, built in 1571 and offering 1000m² of living space, boasts an exceptional location in the heart of Southern Burgundy. The medieval town of Romenay, offering all amenities, is just a 3-minute drive away. Tournus, known as the capital of gastronomy in southern Burgundy with its Michelin-starred restaurants, is only 15 minutes away.
Nestled in the countryside, surrounded by fields and small lakes, the Château is set in the heart of a magnificent 17-acre park, adorned with centuries-old trees and a fishing pond. The estate offers complete privacy. There is a jogging trail through the woods in the park and the surrounding area is perfect for walks and cycling right from the castle.
Its unique architecture will captivate lovers of historic buildings. The ground floor living rooms feature beautifully decorated French-style ceilings and rooms have preserved the noble materials from the 16th century and beyond : wooden floors, French ceilings, fireplaces, and original doors and windows.
Nearly a year of renovation was required to incorporate all modern comforts. The rooms are well-separated and isolated from one another, ensuring greater privacy. The decor and furnishings have been meticulously selected, creating a perfect blend of tradition and modernity.
Château de Montsymond is one of the larger and best-equipped Kasteliades properties and offers an impressive range of leisure activities. It's the perfect base for a wonderful vacation with family and friends.
The chateau features 10 luxurious rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, and a child's room. The ground floor boasts a large lounge, a dining room accommodating 20 guests and two other, more intimate, lounges : the billiard room and the poker room.
The very large, fully-equipped kitchen also provides a breakfast dining area. The kitchen opens onto the outdoor terrace with its pool deck, and 'al fresco' dining area. The 5 x 11m heated swimming pool and the terrace offer a great place for relaxing and socialising and will surely be the centreprice for your holidays.
Additionally, a separate building has been renovated to provide a complete 'wellness' area with a gym (featuring weight training and cardio equipment), a sauna, a steam room, and a massage room. A local masseuse offers services on-site.
A spacious courtyard accommodates parking for up to ten vehicles.
Four bedrooms and the child/baby bedroom are on the first floor. Four bedrooms are on the second floor and two bedrooms on the third floor.
Seven of the bedrooms have 180 x 200cm queen-size beds, and three bedrooms have two twin beds each (90 x 200cm). The twin beds can be put together to make a 180 x 200cm bed on request.

All rooms have en-suite private bathroom.
Three rooms are equipped with HD TV and Blu-ray DVD player.
Three cots are available in the castle and a child's bed (190 x 80cm).

The 10 bedrooms all have their own en-suite bathroom. Tastefully renovated for your comfort, each bathroom consists of a toilet, a washbasin and either a shower or bath (9 bedrooms have a walk-in shower and 1 bedroom has a bath).

The castle is away from main roads and any noise. The rooms are well-separated and isolated from one another, ensuring greater privacy.
The large living room is located on the 1st floor. Bright and airy with a high plaster and wooden ceiling the room features a balcony overlooking the park. The woodwork mouldings, huge fireplace and the original oak floors bring a touch of authenticity.
The living room is equipped with a large HD screen with satellite channels as well as a Blu-ray DVD player. A DVD library with over 200 titles is at your disposal, along with a library containing numerous books.
The living room fireplace is equipped with an electric burning insert allowing you to enjoy the conviviality of a fireplace without the hassle of transporting logs logs and starting the fire. The poker room also has this type of fireplace
The dining room has a traditional open hearth fireplace dating from the 16th century which you can use during the cooler autumn and winter periods. Firewood is provided to you free of charge.
Two richly decorated lounge rooms are located on the ground floor, featuring French painted ceilings, oak floors, moldings, and fireplaces. One lounge includes a pool table, while the other offers a professional poker table with chips, and a chess table.
The table can accommodate up to 20 guests. Like the living room, large windows overlooking the park provide plenty of light, highlighting the superb French-style painted ceiling dating from the 16th century, along with the woodwork mouldings and oak parquet flooring.
A vast assortment of crockery and cutlery, tastefully selected by Sylvia, is available in the lounge dresser. A breakfast area offers a traditional coffee maker as well as Senseo and Nespresso coffee machines, and an electric kettle.
The huge kitchen with its fireplace, its French ceiling and natural stone floor, opens directly onto the pool terrace and garden. Fully equipped, the kitchen offers :

A large granite table in the center of the room offers plenty of space for cooking.

The 5m x 11m heated saline* swimming pool is open between 1st April and October (exact dates depend on the weather). The depth ranges from 1m at the shallow end to around 1m60 et the deep end. The pool is equipped with an automated cover which ensures the safety of children when closed.
The pool terrace has a dining area with a table seating 20 people, perfect for lunch and dinner by the poolside. You'll also find sun loungers for relaxing in.
Immediately adjacent to the dining area is a stone barbcue.

*Our heated saline pools - environmental and safety information
All Kasteliades swimming pools are saline treated pools, as opposed to treated with hard chemical chlorine. This is generally considered to be gentler on the environment as well as on your skin, eyes and hair ! The salinity of the pool water is ten times less than that of seawater and you hardly notice it.
The swimming pool uses a heat pump, the most environment friendly method for heating an outdoor pool. The pump extracts heat from the air to warm the pool water circulating through it. If the air temperature falls below 15°C, we cannot guarantee that the pool will be warm enough.
All Kasteliades swimming pools have a cover to protect the pool and ensure the safety of children when closed. The covers are either flat or raised structural elements.
Part of the castle outbuildings have been converted to a wellness and fitness area. The following equipment is provided :
A bluetooth sound system is available if you wish to workout to music.

On the 1st floor you'll find a massage room. professional massage therapists are available on request (click here for more details).
The billiard lounge, located on the groundfloor, is richly decorated with its 16th century painted ceiling.

A large 60m2 games room on the 2nd floor of the Castle offers a variety of activities:

The WiFi network is available throughout the Castle and is free of charge.
4 all-road bikes and two child seats are available free of charge for excursions. It is possible to rent more bikes. Please consult the section of our website dedicated to bike-rental here.
The French bowls, or 'petanque' track, is located near the Castle. 16 pétanque bowls are available.
A fishing pond covering an area of approximately 2.3 acres is located in the Château Park. You can fish a variety of sepecies including carp and pike. Two fishing rods are available for free (excluding accessories). Lines and accessories can be bought in some local stores, for example the supermarket in Romenay.
There is a tennis court in the town of Romenay, 3 km from the Castle. Rackets and balls are available at the Chateau.
Annick is one of our regular and trustworthy cleaning staff and she can provide various services during the week : cleaning, baby-sitting, etc... Through her own company, services are invoiced at 20 euros per hour (all taxes and charges included), with a minimum of 4 consecutive hours per intervention. Annick can be contacted here :
